A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Had been advised that there was a Trig near the Vistas cache & sure enough they both share the same co-ords. A lovely setting with a few locals wondering why all these people were walking up the rise (OZ Mega weekend at least).
Last time the DNF was because the cache was sleeping with the fishes.

This time it was because the posted GZ co-ords lead straight to a survey marker, as many before us have commented. Sadly, the cache is not even remotely close.

Any chance the list co-ords can be updated, not just added to the log?

Also, the said Sistema container listed as the cache is the OLD cache container. This needs updating as well.</text>

<text>Luckily I hadn't read all the previous logs, or I might not have bothered stopping. But I did, and had almost given up the search at my indicated GZ (which was right at the survery marker) when I decided to look a little further afield. The cache is in good condition, though it has been wet at some stage, and hidden in the usual fashion. It is certainly just within the +/- 4m error of my GPSr. Maybe the radio mast contributes to interference in the signal? Anyhow, thanks for the cache Rescue-201

PS. I didn't tune in, as I was travelling solo having left the rest of the team in Wagga Wagga, and was enjoying the solitude and silence - I don't always like or agree with their choice of music!

PPS. Reading further down the cache log, I guess I have found IF's replacement cache, those coordinates would probably be spot on.</text>

<text>Driving past 1152 on my way through it's coverage area.
I had to stop to admire the 'art deco' building that adorns the site.
I soon found the caches hiding spot surrounded by some bricks and rocks, but there was only half the bottom of the cache and the log book sitting there !!
As I strolled back to the car to fill out the log book I noticed the remains of the lid under the back wheel of the geomobile
As I looked around I found other bits and pieces that had obviously been swaps in the cache.
Not to worry !! I collected everything together, put the log book in a new plastic bag and dug out one of my 'emergency' cache containers from the back of the car to house the stuff.
The cache is now sitting about 12 feet away from it's original spot, but still close to the gate and fence, with a suitable bit of the local junk for camoflague.
<text>Bwahaha!! Piglet and I were off cat hunting for at least 10 minutes, when we went to find out what was taking Cheesy pig so long to find the cache. After eventually finding him in the dark, he mentioned that he didn't want to look 'there' because it was a smelly bush. Well yes it was, but it didn't deter me from immediately reaching out and finding the cache. Love the cache name.
You could say that this is Australia's (& maybe the World's) largest cache.

As you approach the co-ordinates you will see why. It is a commercial premises and it is well signed so you can't miss it, even if your GPS loses some accuracy in the concrete jungle. It is not open all the time but in general during the week from 8am to 4pm and 9am to 2.30pm on weekends at the moment.

There is no fee to enter, but if you just happen to be around at a meal time, then you might as well stop in for a snack & a cache. There is no requirement to purchase anything either, but no matter what time of day you are there, a cool drink or a coffee is a welcome break from the weather, while you log the cache. I can inform you that is one of the elite places in town with a well respected reputation.

This one is just a little bit different. To find the cache you must enter and see if you can see the secret hiding place. Don't look too hard, it's not there. You have to show one of the staff your GPSr and ask for the hidden cache (be careful, as they may be confused - you'll see why when you get there) but it should cause no difficulty. Just persist if needed and the owner is well aware and has given permission for this method of access.

Take a seat, make a swap & a log note, without a worry that you may be seen by muggles, even write in it how many you have found in your career & how many today. Then return the cache to the staff for safe keeping. (they will probably read it after you leave).

<text>Lucy Junior and I planned to do this cache for morning tea, so after a hectic (for us) morning's caching we stopped off, ordered coffee, hot chocolate, a ham and cheese croissant to share and a cache. How exciting, as we sat in the front window and read the logs and perused the contents of this cache in Cache at our leisure, without fear of being muggled. I can not really understand the reluctance of some to find GCA caches, and they certainly miss out big time with this one! Thanks Roostaman for the cache, and directing us to some excellent coffee.</text>
The staff were helpful, but we had to sign the log at the counter as there was no room to sit down. Noticed a few other cachers lounging about the place though! Really great idea for a cache, thank you!</text>

<text>This is the only GCA cache we found during the Oz Mega. We rocked up just as the shop was closing and the counter girl didn't know what we were talking about so she got her boss to give the cache to me. I signed the log and went outside to find 'A Piece of Cache'. There were cachers already hard at work and they asked if I had found the GCA cache. I said yes but they are closing..so you'd better hurry. I was sure the girls in the store would let these cachers interrupt their closing as they were not too hard to look at
<text>Having found the smaller cache the night before, we decided to tackle this one for breakfast. A quick chat with the cache owner regarding the upcoming Mega Event (listen to Geotalk Episode 55 in Jan 2010) was followed by a drive down the main street and parking close by.

Nay had the breakfast bruschetta and an apple juice, Zac had the Turkish bread toast and I had Eggs Benedict with a long black. This was the best tasting cache we've ever done.

The girl behind the counter gave us the cache and we filled in the log. Removed the US geocoin and placed an unactivated Geocaching NSW geocoin for the next person to take.
<text>Popped in with Fitfairy to have a light snack and a cache - this is fantastic - it's the first time we have ever been able to get INSIDE a cache (along with the forty odd other people who were there at the same time). Had a few cuppas and OJ's and made a few swaps - couple of one dollar coins for the small book of Rosetti poetry and a geocoin in for taking a swaggie out. The people sitting nearest us were looking rather interested when the waitress brought out the cache and presented it to us - all good fun though and we would highly recommend this cache to everyone.

I can get within a few metres of GZ,
but the trig point is still several stories above my head
